Our event is more than our races. It is a weekend celebration of running and the outdoors. Here is what is on tap for the 2022 Gunstock TrailFest:

The Saturday Events

5K CANICROSS RACE

Saturday - 9:30 a.m.

Have you ever wanted to tag team a race with your canine companion? Now, you can. Following our fan-favorite 5K course, you’ll traverse the open, clean trails with a six-legged team.

Our canicross race will be divided into two waves based on weight. Wave #1 will be for all dogs over 40 lbs (18.2 kg). Wave #2 will be for all pups below 40 lbs (18.2kg). This way, we keep everyone and our canines safe.

Awards are given to the top 3 men and women and the top man and women in the following age groups: Under-20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. A team prize will also be given to the team with the fastest combined time of the top 4 team members.

10K PEAK TO PEAK CHALLENGE

Saturday - 10:00 a.m.

The race begins at basecamp and immediately ascends a dirt and gravel access road for 1.2 miles to the peak of Rowe Mountain (cell tower location). Then, jump onto a stretch of technical single-track trail for 2 miles along a the scenic ridgeline overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. That route will take you to the peak of Gunstock Mountain where you will take a short offshoot spur from the main trail where an aid station awaits. The final 3 miles descend from the peak back to basecamp via a gnarly single-track trail.

Elevation Gain: 1,450 ft.

Awards are given to the top 3 men and women and the top man and women in the following age groups: Under-20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. A team prize will also be given to the team with the fastest combined time of the top 4 team members.

THE KIDS’ RUN

Saturday - 10:30 a.m.

Kids get in on the fun as well on Saturday. We offer a 2K course that is perfect for kids ages 5 and older who are not quite ready for the 5K course. This flat and non-technical loop around the pond in the festival area is a great way to get them involved in the weekend fun. Plus, they will get their own race shirts and special cowbell keychains as party of their entry. Plus, the top three boys and girls finishes will receive awards.

Elevation Gain: 96 ft.

5K RACE

Saturday - 11:00 a.m.

Our course is a 5-kilometer, off-road roller coaster on well-maintained XC trails that twist, turn, and roll their way through the forest. The trails are level, wide (12′), and non-technical with no roots or rocks, but very hilly. Although there are no major climbs, the rolling terrain is unrelenting. The surface of the trails is mainly grass and dirt sprinkled with pine needles, pinecones, twigs, and small stones. Trail running shoes are recommended but not necessary. It is a great introduction to the exciting world of trail running.

Elevation Gain: 240 ft.

Awards are given to the top 3 men and women and the top man and women in the following age groups: Under-20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. A team prize will also be given to the team with the fastest combined time of the top 4 team members.

The race finishes at the peak, where you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views over Lake Winnipesaukee to the east. Don’t feel like running or hiking back down? We’ll have rides on the chairlift that offer scenic views on your way back to basecamp.

Elevation Gain: 1,191 ft.

Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers.

Camping & Lodging

There will be plenty of spaces to camp on-site throughout the weekend in a variety of forms that differ in the level of amenities.

Basecamp Group Site

Positioned at the base of the mountain and adjacent to the start/finish festival area will be an open area where you can pitch a tent anywhere and hangout with all the other runners. This is simple camping with no fires allowed and minimal amenities provided (water, portable wash station, trash, portable restrooms, no showers).

Each individual person pays the same price per night no matter how many in a tent. Camping will be available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. You may reserve any number of spots when you register for a race, or, if you would like to add spots to your existing registration, simply log into your account on venturesendurance.enmotive.com, click on View Registration under Upcoming Events, scroll down to the question about campsites, select your new response, and then click the Add to Cart button.

Gunstock Campgrounds

Gunstock Mountain Resort also offers a wide variety of individual regular campsites. You can even get an RV hookup. Make your reservations early through the Gunstock website since the campground fills up by Memorial Day weekend. For more information, please visit https://www.gunstock.com/summer/camping/.
